Stasis Dermatitis
Venous stasis and edema in the lower extremities can cause poorly oxygenated tissue. The skin on the leg looks “dead” and scaly.
Scratching and other trauma leads to ulcers. An Unnas boot made of zinc paste ointment is applied for one to two weeks over clean ulcers.
Infected stasis ulcers are treated by controlling the infections with oral antibiotics and dressing the ulcer with bactericidal solutions.
