The biggest cause of Blindness in the elderly is a cataract , which is 60-70 % . In fact , with proper treatment , the cataract can be cured and vision will be back as usual .

Definition of Cataract is the change in of the eye lens that previously clear and translucent becomes cloudy . Senile Cataract is a cataract that occurs due to the degenerative process and usually occurs between the age of 60 years and older .

Causes of Cataracts
It is undeniable , cataract has become a nightmare for the elderly . Although most cataracts do occur due to degenerative processes that are common in the elderly are at the age of 60 years and older .
Cataracts can also occur in infants who are called congenital cataracts because the mother had been infected with the virus during the early stages of pregnancy.

Cataracts are also caused by systemic diseases such as diabetes mellitus, use of certain medications , especially steroids in high doses and long term , the eyes are exposed to sunlight or UV in a considerable period of time without any protection , never perform surgery or trauma and accident on the eyes .
