Efficacy of Curcuma in Inhibiting Oral Bacteria

Curcuma is one of the herbs that is easy to be foundd around us, the content can inhibit bacteria, and there are also many Curcuma Benefits for our health that make this plant be a favourite herb.

Based on laboratory studies conducted, it shows that curcuma is able to inhibit oral bacteria, especially Staphylococcus aureus. These bacterias have a role in the occurrence of abscesses, so that when they are inhibited and killed, the abscess will soon be recovered.

The results of the study are as follows:
1. Curcuma solution with 40 % concentration has the effect of inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus due to the total average inhibition of 12.87 mm.
2. Curcuma solution with 60 % concentration has the effect of inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus due to the total average inhibition of 14.21 mm.
3. Curcuma solution with 80 % concentration has the effect of inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus due to the total average inhibition of 15.98 mm.
4. Curcuma solution with 100 % concentration % has the effect in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus due to the total average inhibition of 19.84 mm.
5. The most influential concentration in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus is the curcuma solution with 100% concentration with the total average inhibition of 19.84 mm.

Looking at the results of this study, the strongest results to inhibit and kill bacteria is Curcuma solution with 100 % concentration. There is no harm when using Curcuma as a mouthwash, however, because the solution is 100%, it has strong taste and can make the tongue  unworkable temporarily. It is better if you make a mouthwash with Curcuma solution, use a solution of 80% or below.
