Fire Hazards in the Home
Besides those fire hazards mentioned in specific situations, there are other fire hazards that the nurse may need to mention :
- Smoking, especially where you might fall asleep
- Improperly used or maintained portable heaters
- Faulty or dirty heating systems and chimneys
- Failure to use fireplace screens
- Overloaded circuits, frayed cords, faulty wiring, and defective appliances
- Accumulations of newspaper, magazines, and rags
- Improperly stored solvents, paint supplies, and liquid fuel
